So what exactly is a digital profile? A digital profile, from a marketing stand point, is the overall online presence of your business or personal brand. As Google, the search engines, and marketing interests can track your personal preferences online, digital profiling will be something else which is a discussion for another day.

It includes various and numerous places that your business or personal brand is mentioned, referred to or has a presence. It could be on a myriad of places.

It may start out as your business or personal website but would increasingly include your comprehensive presence on Google, Bing, and Yahoo!

For instance you could have an article marketing campaign and appear on tens of thousands of sites of other publishers or even in their RSS feeds. Such a campaign would get your personal brand out there on the Web and even establish you as an expert in your field.

In stark contrast your digital profile could also be an autoresponder series that’s preprogrammed with information you would like to share with your email subscribers. It could also be your posts on popular social networking sites like FaceBook, Ning, MySpace, or Twitter.

Moreover it would include videos on YouTube and mp3s on iTunes. It is any content you have online that represents you.

Your digital profile is your online expression and representation of yourself. A website is only the beginning of your online marketing efforts today.

You have to make sure everything you do online is a good symbol of your core values and put your best foot forward with this digital footprint. The online audience will be able to search and find your digital profile probably from this point on into eternity.

Build Your Business Online with A Digital Profile

These days building your business online is more than just having a website. Your website might be thought of as more of a central focal point or epicenter of your online promotion.

This may be more of the reality because you control your website. Therefore, you decide the focus and the purpose on your own website.

But your website will only be successful in relation to other major websites, applications, and online properties online. This is the case even if you have an ad budget in the millions of dollars to drive visitors to your site.

For instance your site will need to get site visitors from high traffic online destinations. These high traffic destinations today will be search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo!

Search engines are crucial to getting ongoing Internet traffic. These online destinations get Billions of online visitors a month. We already know this if you are reading this information.

But increasing social media sites empowered by video are becoming important online media properties in which to get web traffic. FaceBook has over 250 million users as of this writing, MySpace is holding up at about the same numbers. reported in May 2009 about 7 Billion videos a month downloaded. In May 2009 it was reported by com.score that there were about 16.8 Billion videos downloaded on the Internet with over 50% being requested on YouTube.

Since your website is essentially a file on a computer (called a server) it is similar to a Word Document on your PC or MAC in that: NO One knows about IT but you and maybe your loved ones! In order for people know about it you have to get links or an online presence on other high traffic sites.

The more exposure on high traffic sites like Google, Bing, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, LinkedIN and Yahoo! the better. Therefore, our goal in marketing our businesses online isn't just building a nice website but we have to develop a digital profile on high traffic online destinations and drive traffic to our sites.

This is a change in the thinking of many entrepreneurs looking to promote themselves online. But a change that is necessary to thrive and survive online.
